From the Archives: Dinosaurs in the Design

Inspired by the discovery of a new dinosaur species this year, we’re looking back at the supergraphic signage system we created for Q?rius, the interactive science education space at the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.

The large-scale graphic system included vivid combinations of silhouetted forms, all drawn from the museum’s collection of millions of scientific objects, from dinosaur bones to dragonflies.

The 10,000 square-foot facility, for which we were also part of the exhibit design team, features an open exploration area, a mezzanine “maker space,” a laboratory, and a 100-person theater with telescoping seats that converts into a demonstration space.
