Designing for the emotions is the subject of a recent appearance by C&G’s Managing Partner, Jonathan Alger, on the Experience by Design podcast. Hosted by Bryan Meszaros, the weekly podcast reveals the story behind key projects to understand how carefully crafted experiences connect people to place.
The podcast goes into depth about C&G’s latest digital installation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. “They were looking for a positive distraction art form, an environmental feature that creates positive feelings and distracts from negativity and worrisome thoughts,” Alger reported on the show. The MSKCC work has two parts: the Dreams Wall, an artistic digital experience of constantly changing naturalistic phenomena; and a virtual and interactive koi pond done in collaboration with Potion. Jonathan also discusses several other projects and how the Pixar film “Inside Out” is a good way to start thinking about the five base emotions all humans have in common.
