The 250th birthday of the United States — the US semiquincentennial — is rapidly approaching in 2026. The country itself has big plans (America250) and the states are joining in with heritage programs and activities. The Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250) is setting the pace with a brand identity by C&G Partners. This summer, the identity capped off a nighttime drone show over the historic state capitol.
It comes as no surprise, if you know the fine people of Virginia, to see the passion and pride greeting the new brand. For example, drivers in the state can order an exclusive VA250 license plate through the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The logotype (a logo made entirely of modified letterforms) is bold and simple, to aid recognition and recollection, with unique letterspacing, angled cuts and a strategically placed white star.
That license plate includes another element designed by C&G Partners for VA250, which is a matching tagline with some unique O’s:
The identity comes in a variety of other forms, including single-color, and also a variation that spells out the URL on promotional materials:
The identity can also be seen on VA250’s website …
…and on commemorative pins (including a pin apparently belonging to Sam, a toy dog who appears mysteriously at historical locations around the state).
Many public appearances have featured the new brand, including events with surprise guests (below, broadcast journalist Harry Smith), elected officials, and local news:
Accessories, clothing and merchandise are now being developed, including lanyards and caps:
