As part of their 150th anniversary celebration, the AIA commissioned the firm to design two new layers in Google Earth. The America’s Favorite Architecture layer features our nation's 150 favorite structures, selected by a nationwide poll conducted in 2006. By clicking on the new layer, users can view texturized 3-D images, created by Google sketchup, of the nation’s most popular landmarks and structures, as well as enter the America's Favorite Architecture website to comment on the buildings, bridges and monuments displayed therein. The Blueprint for America layer details how AIA members and local citizens are working together to address real issues in their communities – homelessness, sustainable growth, urban revitalization – and to lay an architectural foundation for our nation's future.
