These curved wayfinding signs create a unique interpretation of the classic New York subway sign. Used at the busy transfer station at 53rd Street and Lexington, the signs orient riders through a somewhat confusing passage created by several subway lines coming together at differing levels underground. The two murals utilize large panels of fired porcelain enamel, a nearly indestructible surface with long color life. Designed at Chermayeff & Geismar Inc.
